is a lively market town and municipality of Central Portugal, the population was just over 13,000 at the last count which was carried out in 2011.
The municipality is comprised of six parishes:
  1. Alvorge
  2. Ansião
  3. Avelar
  4. Chão de Couce
  5. Pousaflores
  6. Santiago da Guarda
The current president of Ansião is Rui Rocha of the Social Democrat Party (PSD).
The municipality is bordered in the following way:
  • To the north, municipality of Penela
  • To the northwest, municipality of Soure
  • To the east, municipality of Figueiró dos Vinhos
  • To the south, municipality of Alvaiázere
  • To the west, municipality of Pombal
Facilities and amenities available in Ansião:
There are two Creches available in the town, one is public and one private.
The schools are from pre-school through to secondary school, they are all very modern and well equipped.
The swimming pools in Ansião are all indoors.
There is also an indoor gymnasium for football, basketball etc. Tennis courts and 5 a side facilities are also available.
There is also a small private gymnasium in the town.
There is a cultural centre in the town, where all sorts of cultural events take place on a regular basis. Music and theatrical events are the most common.
Ansião is relatively blessed with cafes, bars and restaurants there are two pizza places also.
The municipal park is very attractive and offers something for all ages.
There is the usual kiddies play area and an array of exercise machines for adults.
There is a mid sized Intermarche supermarket which provides pretty much everything you need for day to day living.
